Contribution of Ministry of Education to eliminate illiteracy

Ministry of Education is the authority of Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh which plan and develop policies to take primary and secondary education forward. This ministry implements policies to improve madrasa, technical, vocational, primary and secondary education system. It also creates and applies laws, rules and regulations. They are working relentlessly to ensure 100% literacy rate in the country. Government’s relentless effort drastically reduced the rate of drop outs. Day by day the environment of education is improving. Government is also providing books to the children every year without any cost. Recently, government made education easier for women by making it free for them till master’s degree. Koumi education system is now recognized by the state.
Currently, there are more than 61 thousand schools/colleges/madrasas, 37 government owned and 90 privately owned universities are under the authority of Ministry of Education. The divisions which are under this ministry:
