Bangladesh was almost destroyed because of Tarek Rahman’s extreme corruption

News desk: Tarek Rahman earned negative reputation for lots of things. Corruption, looting of resources, taking commissions, embezzling money which was allocated for development projects, importing illegal weapons and drugs were his main concerns instead of running the country efficiently.

One of his specialties was to make pillars for electricity connections. He was known as ‘Khamba Tarek’ because of this. Though these pillars were made to provide electricity to rural areas still they were never used. Because of his extreme corruption, Bangladesh was became number 1 five times in a row in the field of corruption all over the world. He set up his office at ‘Hawa Bhaban’ and kept running the country from there. Hawa Bhaban was parallel to the government itself and Tarek made it like this. He fixed commissions from there. Currently he is the Acting Chairperson of BNP and staying in London as a fugitive. Numbers of cases of corruptions were filed against him. According to the constitution of BNP a criminal cannot be the head of the party. But still he became the Acting Chairperson by violating all the rules. He was a known corrupt leader in not only Bangladesh but also in the world. During BNP’s time in the power, foreign countries, international organizations and mass media marked him as a corrupt leader.

Bangladesh turned into a terrorist country because of Tarek’s ruthless ploy and corrupt behavior. He laundered billions of corrupted taka to London, Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Cayman Islands. He also invested his money in those places. Few embassies as well as Bangladesh suffered a lot because of Tarek’s extreme corrupted mentality. Even USA refused to give him visa when they got to know about his history of corruption.
Judith Chalmers of Charge the Affairs of US Embassy commented that, Tarek Rahman himself instructed for the releasing of terrorist and JMB leader Mahtab Khamaru over the phone on 15th December 2005. To be noted, Mahtab Khamaru worked as the right hand of Siddikul Islam aka Bangla Bhai. Prothom Alo published news on Tarek Rahman about his involvement with the terrorists. Wikileakes leaked a confidential document of US Embassy which stated that, Tarek Rahman himself freed the associate of Bangla Bhai. That document also stated that Bangladesh was unable to foresee the bad impact of terrorism. Tarek Rahman is helping to free the terrorists.

Patricia Butenis was employed in Bangladesh as the US Ambassador. During her time she commented on 24 August 2006, sons of Khaleda Zia and the ministers and their relatives of BNP-Jamayat alliance were directly involved with commission business. They got drunk with the idea of corruption. Another US Ambassador James F Moriarty who was assigned in Bangladesh commented on Tarek Rahman on 11th March 2008. He said, “Tarek Rahman is too much corrupted. He made lots of dollars from it. It will not be wise to give him US Visa.”

Tarek Rahman has to be boycotted to create a Bangladesh which is full of democracy, non-communal behavior and full of humanity. Also to create a developed and take Bangladesh forward Tarek Rahman should be rejected by the people. There is no other option but to support the party who stood for democracy and the independence of Bangladesh. If a country needs to be made which is based on the idea of improvement, creating equality and serving the people of the nation then party who supports the sovereignty and independence of the nation has to be elected. Bangladesh will rise up in the world with its head high.
