Oikko Front conspiracy is unveiled by the Columnist Abdul Gaffer Chowdhury

News desk: Many discussions and criticisms are going on about the structural formation and strategies of Jatiyo Oikko Front. Many people already referred it as the ‘conspiracy against the state’. This time, eminent columnist Abdul Gaffer Chowdhury (writer of the iconic song ‘Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano) tried to unveil the truth about the conspiracy of Jatiyo Oikko Front. His column which was published in ‘Bangla News Post’ is given here.

In his word:
Living abroad has lots disadvantage. But it also has benefits. One of the most important benefits is that, a broader picture can be seen while staying abroad. If a person is observant enough then lots of information will be obtainable which is unavailable in the country. Situations can be observed from a neutral point of view. For example, Barrister Moinul Hossain was arrested because he delivered a bad comment to a female journalist. At first, it appeared as the talk of the day. But, Barrister Moinul’s apology was unable to save him from getting arrested. He was sued and now arrested. I got to know many unknown information just because I am staying abroad. I do not know whether it is the truth or not. But this subject seemed very easy at beginning but now I think it is not that easy to understand. Since the case is pending in the court and that is why I am not saying anything. Truth will reveal itself on its own.
One thing is clear; situation is getting vaguer day by day. It is a democratic way if Awami League government loses the election and someone else take the power. It would not be objected if BNP-Jamayat or a third power was eager to do this in a systematic way. In fact, it will glorify democracy.
In truth, Dr. Kamal Hossain, Doctor Badruddoza Chowdhury would be welcomed by the nation if they were determined to form a third party to join the election and compete against Awami League. But few factors put the election in an ambiguous situation which might endanger the country worse than year 2001. A politics of conspiracy has been initiated. I can see it more clearly because I am staying outside of Bangladesh.
At first, collaboration of Dr. Kamal Hossain’s Jatiyo Oikko Prokria and Badruddoza Chowdhury’s Jukto Front and their joined ‘5 Demands’ were going good. They also declared that BNP can join if they are willing to leave Jamayat. But absence of Doctor Badruddoza Chowdhury and his companion on their first meeting and sudden appearance of Barrister Moinul Hossain was very skeptical.
Secondly, after being removed from the ministry of the Half Military Government of 1/11; Moinul Hossain kind of stepped out from the political arena of Bangladesh. Since he was involved in 1/11, which is why no one asked him to join with them. He is not even involved with a political party. So question arise, who called him to join? Which party is he representing? Is he representing just himself? Or someone from the Oikko Prokria invited him secretly?
Their conspiracy revealed before these questions were answered when Oikko Front was founded without Badruddoza Chowdhury. It was not late for me to know that Tarique Rahman played an important role in this matter. Tarique wanted to stop Badruddoza Chowdhury to form this alliance. He also wanted to bring Dr. Kamal in the BNP-Jamayat alliance. He knew that Dr. Kamal does not have a strong stand against Jamayat. But openly his Gono Forum cannot join with BNP-Jamayat. Now, Dr. Kamal and BNP-Jamayat formed Oikko Front. It is not important that what name is given; in truth it is just another formation of BNP-Jamayat.
If BNP wanted to join with Jatiyo Oikko Front along with Doctor Badruddoza Chowdhury then they would have to leave Jamayat. Tarique Rahman and Khaleda Zia are punished by the law. They cannot lead BNP now. If BNP wanted to join Oikko Front then they would have to abandon their leadership as well. That is why, this conspiracy of removing Badruddoza Chowdhury from the Oikko Front started in London.
I am involved with journalism for a very long time. I know about lots of political conspiracies happened in the past. According to that, my intuition tells me that, Moinul Hossain is getting used by the Oikko Front knowingly or unknowingly. If his ‘Favorite Uncle’ Khandakar Mahbub (Senior Lawyer of BNP) is also involved with this then I will not be surprised. Let’s take a closer look; B. Chowdhury was invited to Dr. Kamal’s house; then Dr. Kamal had a meeting with A S M Abdur Rob, Mahmudur Rahman Manna and Barrister Moinul along with B. Chowdhury; then B. Chowdhury was removed from the alliance and they joined with BNP-Jamayat alliance.
This is not my news. It was published in a newspaper in Dhaka. This is why the question arises, without any party how does Barrister Moinul managed to put such a deep impact on them? Then again who helped him and why? So his abrupt appearance on the first meeting of Oikko Front and his insult to a female journalist and later getting arrested for that, are all of these connected to each other? The time has not arrived yet to discuss about these matters.
The real truth was spoken by Kader Siddique of Krishok Sromik Janata League, “Kamal Hossain formed the third party and then he joined with BNP-Jamayat.” In my opinion, BNP does not have a known leader right now as Khaleda Zia is imprisoned and Tarique Rahman is a fugitive, so BNP brought Dr. Kamal as a substitute leader. BNP knows that Dr. Kamal do not have any consistency. His political base is not very strong. He can be removed anytime like a bottle cap by Tarique Rahman.
Still, I can see a small dot of light in this darkness. May be Tarique Rahman is thinking that Kamal Hossain is not an important factor in the politics of Bangladesh. He is a political orphan. What harm can happen if he can be used now and later if he is thrown away then who will stop him (Tarique Rahman)? But, opposite can happen as well, right?
If BNP-Jamayat alliance cannot win this election then Begum Zia or Tarique Rahman will not be able to hold the leadership of BNP anymore. Those who are against the leadership of Tarique they are hopeful about it. They are thinking that, BNP will be a strong ‘Opposition Party’ in the election and a new leader will be required. Begum Zia or Tarique Rahman will not be able lead because of the law. Then they would be bound to handover the leadership.
Is that making Dr. Kamal their new leader? That might also go in vain. It is not sure that he will win the election. Whoever will win the parliamentary election from BNP and become the next leader, we can be optimistic that, he/she and the members will get this party out of corruption and start driving it on the road to democracy. I am considering this as the dot of the light into the darkness.
Ironic fact is that, Sheikh Hasina does not have to compete with a democratic election but a series of conspiracies. She does not have any other options but to be strict. Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray once spoke to Fazlul Huq who was the Prime Minister of Undivided Bangla. That time he said to Fazlul Huq, “Fazlul Huq do you know what is your biggest failure as the Prime Minister? You want to rule the country with heart of the mother. A mother’s heart cannot rule a nation.”
I hope Sheikh Hasina will take lesson from it. She tried to rule the country before with a heart of the mother and witnessed what happened to it. She has to be strong and strict for the sake of the country and for the sake of democracy.
